  My honey

This website contains mostly personal and information on interests and hobbies. If you're interested in my science/research activities, please go to http://www.astro.princeton.edu/~mjuric.

Welcome

Currently, due to a lack of time, this homepage is rather bare. Most of my past and current work is presented on different websites I've worked on, so I direct you to the links section and to my CV. For my current research activities, please see my Princeton homepage. To contact me, use this e-mail address : majuric@astro.hr

Stuff of interest to me

Selection of works (1995-2002)

Visnjan Observatory
Visnjan Observatory is a small amateur driven observatory situated in Visnjan, Croatia. Main areas of work at Visnjan are educational programs and astrometric measurements and discovery of asteroids. I've been actively working in Visnjan for the past seven years, mostly on software for asteroid measurement and detection. Lately, my focus has shifted towards methods of data mining of astronomical data, and especially 3D visualisation of astronomical data.
news.astro.hr
A Slashcode powered news site, in Croatian, for issues related to astronomy and space science in general. Also, through article and editorials, we try to voice some points (concerns) about the state of general science and education in Croatia.
Visnjan Observatory Image Database 2, Web Interface (V2Web)
VOID 2 is an Oracle8 based database of CCD frames imaged at Visnjan and asteroid information needed for Visnjan astrometric measurement program. V2Web is a web interface with emphasis on datamining capabilities with 3D visualization options. V2Web is currently in development.
3Xplorer Visualizer
3Xplorer is a spinoff of V2Web - a 3D visualizer and query tool for general point source catalogues. Currently, 3Xplorer is in a very early development phase.
Virtual Reality Application and Development Group
VR ADG was a group of highschool students, me included, interested in (serious) playing with VR, especially the VRML language/file format. Also, we were active in popularising the technology through lectures and through the CARNet::VRML website. The website is now largely out of date, serving only as a historical reminder of early starts of VRML in Croatia.
Gallaxies colliding
Some N-body galaxy collision simulations I did while in highschool. Basically, a replication of early '70ies Toomre &Toomre work.

Shows
  • Star Trek (TOS, TNG & the movies (prior to First Contact, after that it's all crap), not that Voyager disgrace)

  • Monty Python
Philosophy
A weird combination of skepticism, stoicism, Star Trek and survival of the fittest. Now you figure it out ;-).

Far above the Moon
Planet Earth is blue
